The Next Collapsing Industry: Fishing
Some researchers say that the world will run out of wild seafood within 40 years. Ken says: "Badal Roy came to Hartford as part of the International Jazz Festival. In addition to his regular quartet, he brought his fellow bandmates from Miles Davis's band Dave Liebman (sax), and Michael Henderson (bass). I shot this video of the ensemble playing from Miles's In A Silent Way. Take note of the gorgeous Bamboo Flute playing by Steve Gorn." URL: Claire's Mix
Invertebrate Astronauts Make Space History
Better known as water bears, tardigrades are eight-legged invertebrates visible to the naked eye and found throughout the world, making them a biology class favorite.
They're capable of halting their metabolisms during times of extreme privation, and can repair DNA damage caused by extraordinary doses of radiation -- a phenomenon that's piqued scientific curiosity and prompted researchers to shoot tardigrades into naked orbit around the Earth.
